Fiscal consolidation

  • Fiscal Consolidation refers to the policies undertaken by Governments (national and sub-national levels) to reduce their deficits and accumulation of debt stock.
  • Improved tax revenue realization and better aligned expenditure are the components of fiscal consolidation as the fiscal deficit reaches at a manageable level.

 

 

NABARD

  • NABARD is a development bank focussing primarily on the rural sector of the country.
  • It is the apex banking institution to provide finance for Agriculture and rural development.
  • It is responsible for the development of the small industries, cottage industries, and any other such village or rural projects.
  • It is a statutory body established in 1982 under Parliamentary act-National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Act, 1981

 

 

Delimitation

  • Delimitation literally means the act or process of fixing limits or boundaries of territorial constituencies in a country to represent changes in population.
  • Under Article 82, the Parliament enacts a Delimitation Act after every Census.
  • Under Article 170, States also get divided into territorial constituencies as per Delimitation Act after every Census.

Bonda Tribes

  • The Bonda tribe of Odisha are believed to be part of the first wave of migration out of Africa about 60,000 years ago.
  • They were the first forest settlers in India.
  • Anthropologists say that they are members of a group of Austroasiatic tribes, who at some time in the ancient past migrated and settled in an area of about 130 sq km in the wild Jeypore hills.

  • The bill is also known as the DNA profiling bill.
  • It tries to check use of DNA technology to establish the identity of a person.
  • The DNA technology bill aims to establish the identity of missing persons, victims, offenders, under trials and unknown deceased persons.

 

 

Disinvestment

  • Disinvestment is when governments or organizations sell or liquidate assets or subsidiaries.
  • Disinvestments can take the form of divestment or a reduction of capital expenditures (CapEx).
  • Disinvestment is carried out for a variety of reasons, such as strategic, political, or environmental.
