CII

  • Confederation of Indian Industry is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization.
  • Founded in 1895, it works with the Government on policy issues.

 

NCAP

  • The National Clean Air Programme or NCAP is a government programme launched by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change in 2019.
  • The programme is a pollution control initiative with a major goal of reducing the concentration of coarse and fine particulate matter in the atmosphere by at least 20% by the year 2024.

 

Public trust doctrine

  • The public trust doctrine is the principle that the sovereign holds in trust for public use some resources such as shoreline between the high and low tide lines, regardless of private property ownership.

 

Prohibition of child marriage act 2006

  • This Act replaced the Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929 which was enacted during the British era.
  • The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act presently allows for child marriages, between a boy of under 21 years and a girl under 18 years of age.
  • It defines a child to mean a male below 21 years and female below 18 years.
  • “Minor” is defined as a person who has not attained the age of majority as per the Majority Act.

 

The UNSC resolution 1267

  • It was adopted unanimously on October 15, 1999.
  • It is a consolidated list of people and entities that the UN has determined as being associated with Al Qaeda or the Taliban, and laws which must be passed within each member nation to implement the sanctions.

 

6th schedule

  • The Sixth Schedule consists of provisions for the administration of tribal areas in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram, according to Article 244 of the Indian Constitution.
  • Passed by the Constituent Assembly in 1949, it seeks to safeguard the rights of the tribal population through the formation of Autonomous District Councils (ADC).
